Dougs Portable Skirting
Table Top by Lisa Roskopf A good friend of mine came up with the idea and built a portable skirting table after his wife and I talked about how nice it would be to have a skirting table that would work well with our double-coated, low grease content fleeces, and one that wasnt so heavy or cumbersome to move around. The skirting table came in very handy this Fall when we sheared our Icelandic sheep. We had 2 tables going and still had problems trying to keep up with Eddie. our shearer. Once again, the portable skirting table came in very handy at the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival held on September 27-28, 1997. It was used in a sheep shearing and spinning demonstration for a local television station that came out and covered our Festival. It was again used for our OFFF shearers that were kept very busy shearing sheep and goats all day Sunday. This was our very first year for the Oregon Flock & Fiber Festival. We had a great attendance with over 500+ fiber animals, over 70 vendors, and lots of public attendance Throughout the 2 day event. After a year and a half of planning, I can sum it up in 4 words, IT WAS A BLAST!!! Our OFFF committee of 5 has already began planning for next years event. The theme of our show is, "A celebration of natural fibers-A unique event". If you would like more information or be on the mailing list for next year, just drop me a line. We will be doing mail-in entries again next year for our fleece and fiber arts show. Its a good way to get your name out!!! For those that are interested, Ive included instructions on how to build the table. I found it works great for Icelandic fleeces Happy Skirting!!!!
